Lightning All-Stars lost 11-2 to the undefeated 4th grade Aces team to end the season. Mateo and Nicholas scored. Lightning All-Stars finished 2-5-3. Great job, boys!

Game results - 2/9/08

In the first game of the playoffs, the Lightning All-Stars notched a victory on penalty kicks over the Lightning. Mateo scored Lightning All-Stars only goal in regulation, midway through the first half. Lightning struck back in the second half, and regulation time ended at 1-1. After a scoreless 5-minute overtime, the game went to penalty kicks. Lightning missed their first two, while Lightning All-Stars made their first two. After another Lightning miss, and a Lightning All-Stars miss, Lightning missed their 4th shot, thus giving Lightning All-Stars the victory. Great play from our keepers, Dylan and Juan, and great hustle from all the boys.

Our record is now 2-4-3. Our next playoff game is on February 23rd, 2 PM at Gunston.

Game results - 2/2/08

Lightning All-Stars notched their first win of the season, 6-3 over the 4th Grade ASF Lightning team. The win avenged a 6-1 defeat earlier in the season.

After a goal from Juan early in the first half, ASF scored a goal at 13:43 of the half to tie the game. Lightning All-Stars struck back with three goals in the last three minutes of the first half, two from Nicholas, and one from Mateo on a left-footed direct kick to make the score 4-1 at the end of the first half.

In the second half, ASF got two goals to narrow the lead to 4-3 at the midpoint of the second half, but Nicholas struck again at 3:28 and added an insurance goal in the last 20 seconds to make the final 6-3.

All the boys hustled hard for this victory. Great keeper work from Ben and Eric.Playoffs start next weekend. Game info to follow.

Game 7 results - 1/26/08

Lightning All-Stars battled the 3rd Grade Science Focus team to a 1-1 tie. Neither team scored until 14:54 of the 2nd Half when Science Focus Lightning broke through. A minute and a half later, Nicholas put one in the net for Lightning All-Stars. Good hustle from everybody.

Our record is now 0-4-3. Next Saturday's game will be at Gunston, 1PM, vs. ASF Lightning. Wear white shirts again.

Game 6 results - 1/19/08

Lighting All-Stars blew a 3-0 first half lead, and then scored a late goal to salvage a 4-4 tie with McKinley at the Gunston bubble.

Ethan, Nicholas and Mateo all scored in the first six minutes of the game to establish the 3-0 lead. McKinley scored late in the half to make the score 3-1 at halftime. After 12 minutes of no scores during the second half, McKinley scored three goals in a six minute span to take a 4-3 lead. Benjamin scored in the last minute of play to get the tie. Kudos to Juan for some stellar keeper play in the first half.

Lightning All-Stars record is now 0-4-2. Next week's game is against the Science Focus Lightning, 2PM at Barcroft.

Game 5 results - 1/12/08

The boys salvaged a 5-5 tie with the Falcons after squandering a 5-2 lead in the second half. Mateo scored four goals and Ethan had one, an impressive blast shot, for the All-Stars. Ethan, Eric and Dylan anchored a stout defense that held the Falcons to one goal in the first half. All the boys showed their usual hustle.

Ethan got things going with his goal just one minute into the game. Mateo added two more goals in the first ten minutes of the half as the All-Stars took a 3-0 lead. The Falcons scored with two minutes to go and the half ended with All-Stars ahead 3-1. The Falcons scored again early in the second half, but the Lightning struck back with two goals by Mateo and held a 5-2 lead withe 13 minutes to go. The Falcons added three more goals in the next five minutes to tie the score at 5-5. The last 8 minutes were scoreless although both teams had several chances. The All-Stars showed great hustle to deny the Falcons the victory. The All-Stars record is now 0-4-1.

The All-Stars dropped to 0-4 with an 11-1 defeat at the hands of a very strong 4th grade Arlington Aces team. Mateo scored the All-Stars lone goal.
